If you're still running breaker points in your vehicle, you need to ask yourself WHY? If General Motors dropped point-type ignition in 1975, why would you still be using them? Re-gapping Them? Replacing them? Even if you're a purist or a restoration maven, there's no good reason to run points these days. If we want to check the streangth ( load ) between the wire is there any standards? As I know we need to elongate the small sq mm wire in pull test but what is the standards? Is there any range which describes the load value range?

    Great video! I'd really rather you just make me a new harness, but I don't see one for a '76 Scamp on your website... So if I need to try to clean up my existing harness (it has 47 years of crud and Ziebart on it), should I try to remove the old tape first, or just put this over the old tape? If I should remove the old stuff, is there a preferred method?

    • @LectricLimited
      @LectricLimited 6 месяцев назад

      Don't remove your old tape. If your old tape is still laying relatively flat, I would recommend that you simply tape over your old tape with our non-adhesive tape. If your old tape has hardened and lifted (is poking out) on some spots, to avoid a bump in the tape, I would remove that portion before taping over it. Hope this help!

    • @LectricLimited
      @LectricLimited 6 месяцев назад

      Non-adhesive tapes are used to cover/wrap wiring harnesses. The disadvantage of using ADHESIVE tape (like electrical tape) is that the adhesive will degrade in a short time (months), will unravel, and become a mess. Great explination but I have had so many failurs of this type of joint in John Deere and Iveco harnesses. They absolutly need the terminial to avaid stray wires breaking out of the joint working thier way through the insulation and shorting the harness.

    • @LectricLimited
      @LectricLimited 7 месяцев назад

      If you're experiencing wires breaking out, or separating from the splice, I would assume that the splice was not properly made. There are many ultrasonic weld parameters that will affect the quality of the splice. A quality splice should not fall apart.

    • @FilthyHyena
      @FilthyHyena Месяц назад

      @@P.N.365 That's about as loose as it can be is why. The tape shows no contour whatsoever of the cables underneath and I'm aware that fabric style harness tape will show less, but properly cinched in like harness tape should be, you're still going to see cable definition poking through. There's no torque to that machine at all. Vibration in this case = torque because of the inequal load balance of the big ass tape spool whipping around the central area. The only good reason I can think of not to counterbalance it more would be to get that 'yank' effect of really stretching the tape tight to the surface. It could also be very likely this was never intended to be something you get your hands so fucking close to while running.
